Mimic Skateboards started making skateboards back in 1999 in our own factory. Before 1999 the owner of Mimic Skateboards worked for one of the largest skateboard manufacturing facility for 5 years running the shop. So from the experience of working for a top skateboard manufacturer the owner of Mimic knows what it takes to make a top brand board. Before running a skateboard factory the owner of Mimic Skateboards worked for a brand called Basic Skateboards. Basic Skateboards made a ton of skateboards with fresh new graphics every week. The owner of Mimic Skateboards made graphics for Great American Skateboards and Basic Skateboards for a few good years. So from making graphics back in 1992 he was deep into making graphics for snowboards and skateboards and even making catalog advertisments. The owner of Mimic Skateboards also worked in the Video edidting department making a few skateboard videos that had crazy stunts. This was back in 1994 where there was not a person putting crazy stupid stunts in skate videos. Now days there are all kinds of television networks making shows about skaters doing stupid things. He thinks that the video he put out back way before when skate videos were just skateboarders doing tricks. It must have had a impact on these network shows and why they have poped up all over. Mimic Skateboards owner started out Snowboarding for Black Flys, Vans Shoes, Gouge clothing, and Basic Snowboards and quickly got into the business side of the industry. From there making graphics, videos, magazine layouts and catalogs all that experience got him a oportunity to make make boards for a skateboard manufacturer. The owner of Mimic brought new tecnology to this long time skateboard manufacturer increasing production and finding new ways to make tooling and cutting labor cost with faster ways to move out skateaboards. Now he did not give up all of his trade secrets and ideas on how to improve on skateboard manufacturing. Mimic Skateboards owner had ideas on how to print boards since printing was the hardest thing to do in skateboard manufacturing. So over a 5 year period running Mimic Skateboards he changed the way skateboards are printed 5 times. He printed decks after they have been cut this was great but the quality of a screenprinted deck just does not allow clear crisp graphics. Most skateboards are not made with screenprinting anymore because when you streatch a screen over the concave of a skateboard it blurs the image a small amount. This is a drawback because if you want a ton of detail on the board it just won't happen when you screenprint directly on the board. The second process Mimic Skateboards used was to print directly on the veneer before glueing it up. This gave better detail and photo proces was acheavable with this process. There were some draw backs with printing directly on the wood before the glue process. Next was printing on a heat transfer. This was a great way but the inks used requred a resperator and gloves. The ink would burn your hands and skin if it got on it. The final resting printing process developed by the owner of Mimic Skateboards was one that nobody has ever done and to this day it is the clostest garded secret of Mimic Skateboards. This printing process is so new and the best there is in the market. While most skateboard manufacturers get their heat transfers from overseas Mimic skateboards was dedicated to making everything in their own factory. The quality of the printing and time saved with this new process is the best thing that has happened in the skateboard industry. Some day the owner will sell the process to other manufacturers in the industry so all can have a good looking product. While others are using a vinal sticker and hurting the skateboard industry Mimic Skatebaoards is dedicated to making skateboards the way they were ment to be made.
